Waves Continue Action at Home
The No. 10 Pepperdine men's tennis team hosts San Diego State on Saturday in a 1:30 p.m. match followed by a match against UNLV on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif. After their match at Fresno State was postponed due to rain, the Waves remain 4-1 on the season.
About the Aztecs
The 49th-ranked San Diego State Aztecs are 2-2 heading into this weekend's action. The Aztecs posted wins over UC Riverside and Concordia before being shutout by No. 43 USC. Most recently, the Aztecs nearly missed upsetting No. 17 Boise State, falling 4-3 to the Broncos. The Waves hold a 21-2 advantage over San Diego State. In 2006, Pepperdine took the 5-2 victory in San Diego.
About the Rebels
The UNLV Rebels, coming off of a 5-1 win over Montana State, are ranked No. 74 in the most recent ITA rankings, sharing the spot with Cal Poly. The Rebels hold a 2-2 record and will visit San Diego on Friday before traveling to Malibu to take on the Waves. Pepperdine will look to go 16-0 over UNLV on Sunday.
Pepperdine was in action last weekend when it defeated West Coast Conference foes Saint Mary's and Santa Clara. The Waves traveled north to take on Fresno State on Wednesday, but the match had to be rescheduled due to rain.
Pepperdine will travel to Chicago, Ill. to compete at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships from Feb. 16-19. Last year, the Waves reached the finals, but fell to Georgia.
