WCC Men's Tennis Announces Weekly Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference announces its men's tennis weekly honors for singles and doubles competition for February 11, 2014.

MEN'S TENNIS SINGLES PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ALEX SARKISSIAN, SR., PEPPERDINE
Pepperdine All-American Alex Sarkissian opened his senior year in a big way, going undefeated in both singles and doubles with five duals in the books. Sarkissian plays at No. 1 in both singles and doubles.

Sarkissian has lifted the Waves to a 4-1 record to open the year, with wins over No. 36 Washington, No. 41 San Diego, No. 30 Tulsa and Cal Poly. After battling with the Huskies' ace Max Manthou to a narrow three-set victory, Sarkissian has won his next four matches in straight sets. In a nonconference matchup vs. the Toreros, Sarkissian quickly defeated Clarke Spinosa, the West Coast Conference's top-ranked singles player (No. 27) 6-1, 6-1. Sarkissian is ranked No. 33 in singles.

MEN'S TENNIS DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK
ALEX SARKISSIAN, SR./FRANCIS ALCANTARA, SR., PEPPERDINE
Sarkissian's doubles record mirrors his singles tally at 5-0. He pairs with fellow senior Francis Alcantara and together the duo been a reliable tandem from the top spot in the lineup.
