Waves Continue Action on the Road
The No. 14 Pepperdine men's tennis team continues action on the road but returns to the West Coast to face local rival and fifth-ranked UCLA on Wednesday for a 1:30 p.m. match in Los Angeles. The Waves fell to 7-5 after going 0-2 over the weekend against No. 3 Virginia and No. 28 Wake Forest.
About the Bruins
The No. 5 UCLA Bruins hold an 8-2 record and are coming off of a 5-2 victory over No. 18 Texas A&M. The Bruins went 2-1 at the National Team Indoor Championships, falling to Ohio State in the semifinals. Benjamin Kohlloeffel leads the Bruins in the rankings with a No. 5 ranking, while Chris Surapol and Haythem Abid check in at No. 66 and No. 81, respectively.
UCLA holds a 31-16 advantage over Pepperdine, but last season the Waves went 2-0 over the Bruins. Pepperdine defeated UCLA, 4-3, during the regular season in Los Angeles and followed up with a 4-1 win in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championships.
Pepperdine went 0-2 over the weekend on the East Coast falling to its third straight Top 5 opponent in No. 3 Virginia and also fell to No. 28 Wake Forest.
Pepperdine returns to Malibu for a five-match homestand beginning on Thursday, March 8 when the Waves host UC Santa Barbara.
