Malibu, Calif. - The No. 2 Pepperdine men's tennis team takes its second road trip of the season as it travels to Texas to face No. 32 Texas Christian on Saturday, March 24 at 4 p.m. (PT) and No. 26 California on Sunday, March 25 at noon (PT) in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Waves (19-1) are coming off of a 7-0 sweep over No. 28 Washington, while TCU is coming off a 4-3 victory over No. 22 Texas A&M on Wednesday. The Horned Frogs, who are 7-4 on the season, have two players ranked in the ITA polls as both Andrei Mlendea and Rafael Abreu appear in the Top 75. Abreu also pairs with Jordan Freitas to make up the No. 33 doubles team.
The Golden Bears enter the match with a 9-3 record and have won their last five matches. Conor Niland and Tyler Browne check in a No. 11 and No. 122 in singles, respectively, while the duo hold a No. 58 ranking in doubles.
In the most recent ITA/Fila Rankings, senior Scott Doerner moved up to a No. 4 spot, while senior Pedro Rico checked in at No. 19. Senior Ivor Lovrak, the only Wave to remain undefeated in singles (14-0), is ranked at No. 66. Doerner and sophomore Andre Begemann boast a No. 1 doubles ranking, while Rico and Lovrak hold the No. 27 spot.
Pepperdine leads the all-time series over TCU 13-4 and the all-time series over the Bears 28-18. In 2005, the Waves prevailed 4-0 over the Horned Frogs and defeated Cal 5-2 as both matches were played in Berkeley, Calif.
