LOS ANGELES - Loyola Marymount men's tennis will host Hawaii in a big home match Monday before heading out to the Northwest for the holiday weekend. The match-up between the Lions and Hawaii is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the LMU Tennis Center.
The Lions will look to continue their momentum from their last home match: a victory over Cal Poly. Hawaii has been ranked as high as 64th in the national rankings this season, and its two top singles players are both among the country's top-100.
"Hawaii is a big match for us," LMU Head Coach Nik DeVore said. "They are a tough team, but if we play to our potential,we have a real shot at pulling off a victory. We have really struggled thisyear to put solid back-to-back performances together. We have had some verygood wins over nationally-ranked UC Irvine, Yale, and Cal Poly, but wehaven't been able to follow these wins up with good performances. Our goalis to turn this pattern around and start to put a nice winning streaktogether before the WCC Championships in April. If we can do that, we couldsurprise some teams come tournament time."
Fans who can't make it to the LMU Tennis Center can follow the match Monday on LiveStats at www.LMULions.com.
