LOS ANGELES - A three match home stand will be the final regular season test for Loyola Marymount University before heading to next week's West Coast Conference Championship April 19-22 in San Diego. The Lions (7-12) will host New Mexico State, Saint Mary's, and 56th-ranked Denver this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the LMU Tennis Center.
The Lions scheduled three matches in three days to prepare for next week's conference championship, were the format requires the same endurance. The three matches will wrap-up the regular season for the Lions.
"We are hosting three tough teams here this weekend," LMU Head Coach Nik DeVore said. "This is greatpreparation for the WCC Championship next week, where we will have to playthree matches back-to-back."
The Lions will first play New Mexico State Friday at 1:30 p.m. Saturday will feature WCC foe Saint Mary's at 1:00 p.m. The Aggies and Gaels will then play Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. at the LMU Tennis Center, with the Lions taking on No. 56 Denver immediately following the morning match.
"New Mexico State is always very tough, Saint Mary's has been ranked as high as No. 58 in the national rankings this season, and Denver is currently ranked 56th," DeVore said. "It will be a real test for us, but our guys are ready. We have had our ups and down this season, but the guys are starting to come together at the right time. Our goal is always to be playing our best come tournament time."
