Malibu, Calif. - The No. 1-seed Pepperdine men's tennis team advanced to the final match of the West Coast Conference (WCC) Championships after defeating fourth-seeded San Francisco, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Korth Tennis Complex on Saint Mary's campus in Moraga, Calif.
The Waves, who seek their 16th straight and 37th overall conference title, will face No. 2-seed San Diego on Sunday, April 23 at 3 p.m.
Due to weather conditions, the semifinal match kicked off with singles competition. No. 5 Scott Doerner defeated Matt Berry 6-2, 6-2, while No. 25 Pedro Rico put away Korbinian Kramer 6-3, 6-2. Richard Johnson and Omar Altmann also picked up wins in straight sets at courts five and six, respectively. Johnson defeated Greg Horn 6-1, 6-3, while Altmann handed Mitch Del Rosario a 7-6, 6-1 defeat.
The Dons picked up a point at court four where Fernando Rodriquez defeated Andre Begemann 6-2, 6-3.

Santa Clara - 0
MORAGA, Calif. - The University of San Diego men's tennis team handed Santa Clara University a 4-0 loss Saturday afternoon in the semifinal competition of the WCC Championships. Due to the possibility of inclement weather, the singles competition was played first and the Toreros proved their national ranking with four straight set victories.
At No. 1 singles, 36th-ranked Pierrick Ysern easily defeated Santa Clara's Jan Macek by scores of 6-4 and 6-4. Thomas Liversage took a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Kevin McQuaid at the No. 3 spot while Ryo Sekiguchi claimed a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles. Jonas Mouly followed suit with a 6-3, 6-0 win over AJ Kerin at the No. 6 spot. The matches at No. 2 and No. 4 singles remained unfinished after the fourth point was clinched.
San Diego will now face Pepperdine, ranked second in the nation and the first seed in this weekend's tournament, Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the championship match. Pepperdine will be looking for its 16th straight West Coast Conference crown and has claimed each team title since 1991. Leading the way for the Waves will be 5th ranked Scott Doerner, reigning WCC Player of the Year. San Diego, led by 2005 NCAA singles tournament runner-up Pierrick Ysern, looks to break through after five straight second place finishes.

Moraga, Calif. - Sixth-seeded Loyola Marymount men's tennis advanced to the West Coast Conference consolation championship match with a 4-2 win over seventh-seeded Portland Saturday afternoon. The Lions will now play fifth-seeded Saint Mary's Sunday at 11:00 a.m. for fifth place.
The Lions started with singles play due to the forecast in the Northern California area.
Per WCC Championship rules, play concludes when a team clinches the fourth point. As result, the doubles competition was not needed after LMU clinched the 4-2 win with victories at No.2, No.3, No.4, and No.6.
Mike Wojnarowicz, Reyniere Roxas, and Mike Chan each posted straight set wins.
After dropping the first set, Linas Cicenas battled back to take the next two to clinch the LMU win.
LMU now faces fifth-seeded Saint Mary's in the match for fifth place in the WCC. The teams will begin play at 11:00 a.m. Sunday. The two teams met earlier this month, with the Gaels edging the Lions 4-3.

Moraga, CA - The No. 5 seed Saint Mary's men's tennis team blanked No. 8 Gonzaga 4-0 on Saturday afternoon on the second day of the West Coast Conference tennis championships held at the Korth Tennis Complex at Saint Mary's.
Saint Mary's began with singles play and swept the Bulldogs with straight set victories by Martin Marechal, Adam Fauvre, Yury Platonov and Achim Christner.
The Gaels did not have to finish singles play and didn't have to play doubles after the clinched the match.
Saint Mary's will face the Loyola Marymount/Portland winner at 11 a.m. on Sunday at the Korth Tennis Complex with a finish place finish on the line.
