SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- No. 1 seed Pepperdine defeated No. 3 seed San Diego for its 42nd West Coast Conference title at the 2012 WCC Men's Tennis Championships, presented by the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education. The Waves defeated the Toreros by a score of 4-1 at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego.
After a hard fought doubles match, Pepperdine won at No. 2 and 3 to go up 1-0. The Toreros tied things back up on court three in singles when sophomore Clarke Spinosa topped junior Mousheg Hovhannisyan, 6-1, 6-4. After an intense two and a half hours, the Waves then came back with three consecutive singles wins, clinching the team victory on the court two with senior Alex Llompart defeating senior Patrick Pohlmann in split sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
With the win, the Waves will go on to compete at the NCAA Men's Tennis Championships. San Diego will await its fate as an at-large into the national tournament. For more information on the NCAA Men's Tennis Championships, click here .
