LOS ANGELES - Johan Berhof and Aris Andresian will join the Loyola Marymount University tennis program this fall, Head Coach Nik DeVore announced today. Berhof and Andresian will join a roster boasting eight returners from the 2007 season.
Berhof hails from Kullavik, Sweden, while Andresian comes to LMU from Glendale, Calif.
Berhof has ranked in the top-10 nationally throughout his junior career in Sweden.
"All of the top-10 players are very strong, so we feel fortunateto have Johan joining our program," DeVore said. "Johan had a lot of options, but really liked LMU and what it had to offer both academically and athletically. Johan has a big game, especially off of the forehand side. He likes to attack and is quite comfortable on hard courts. He will no doubt be a valuable addition to our team."
Berhof plans to major in business administration while at LMU.
DeVore is also excited about the potential Andresian brings to the LMU program.
"Andresian is a diamond in the rough in my opinion," DeVore said. "He has no rankings to speak of, but that is mostly because he simply hasn't played. Aris is a serious-minded student and has really dedicated himself to academics over the past couple of years. My guess is that if he played a full slate of junior tournaments every year, Aris would be ranked in the top-20 in Southern California andtop-75 nationally. He is a great ball striker off of both sides, he just needs some match experience. With that, Aris will improve quickly and should make valuable contributions to our team this year."
Like Berhof, Andresian plans to major in business administration.
