SPOKANE, WASH. -- Gonzaga University men's tennis sophomore Levin Guillermo was selected to the Capital One Academic All-District 8 Second Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America Thursday. It is the second straight year a men's tennis player received CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 honors.
Guillermo, who holds a 3.94 grade-point average in civil engineering, posted his second straight 10-win season after going 12-16 overall, the second-most wins on the team. In addition to going 10-11 at No. 1 singles, Guillermo won 7-of-8 matches at one stretch late in the season and in the West Coast Conference Championships he posted a doubles win with teammate Jake Davis. Guillermo received his first All-WCC Honorable Mention in singles.
Nominations and voting for the Capital One Academic All-District Teams are conducted by members of CoSIDA. To be eligible, student-athletes must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA - on a 4.0 scale - at his or her current institution. Nominated athletes also must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's matches at the position.
