Pedro Rico Advances to Second Round of NCAA Singles Championships; Doerner Falls in First Round

Malibu, Calif. - Hot off of the program's first-ever NCAA Men's Tennis National Championship, Pepperdine's two top seniors competed in the NCAA Singles Championships at Stanford's Taube Tennis Center. No. 31 Pedro Rico upset fourth-seeded Lars Poerschke of Baylor 6-4, 6-7(2), 7-5 to advance to the second round and will face Adrians Zguns of Arkansas on Thursday.

Sheeva Parbhu of Notre Dame defeated Scott Doerner 7-5, 6-0. Doerner pairs up with sophomore Andre Begemann for the No. 3-seed doubles team and will face Matthew Baccarani and Patrick Thompson of Ball State in the first round of the NCAA Doubles Championships.
