Pepperdine's Begemann, Women's Doubles Moves On In NCAA Tournament

ATHENS, Geo. - Pepperdine junior Andre Begemann and the women's doubles team of Sylvia Kosakowski and Bianca Dulgheru each advanced in the NCAA Championships Thursday afternoon, while Bassam Beidas fell to the tournament's top seed.

Begemann, the No. 16 seed, moves into the round of 16 after topping Arkansas' Blake Strode 6-3, 6-3 and will face sixth-seeded Arnau Brufues of Tulsa. Brufues needed three sets to advance past Ohio State's Devin Mullings.

Dulgheru and Kosakowski downed Georgia's Yvette Hyndman and Darya Ivanov 6-4, 6-4 to get into the round of 16.
