Rico Falls in Second Round of NCAA Singles; No. 2 Doubles Team to Play Tonight

Malibu, Calif. - Senior Pedro Rico fell in the second round of the NCAA Singles Championships to Adrians Zguns of Arkansas 6-3, 6-2 at Stanford's Taube Tennis Center Thursday morning.

Rico defeated fourth-seeded Poerschke of Baylor in three sets to advance to the second round. The Spain native went 3-0 at the Championships and was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles along with senior teammate Ivor Lovrak.

The Pepperdine doubles team of Scott Doerner and Andre Begemann, who are seeded second in the tournament, open the NCAA Doubles Championships at 6:30 p.m. when they face Matt Baccarani and Patrick Thompson of Ball State.
