(San Francisco, CA) - USF men's tennis kicks off the 2006 fall season at the third annual Bronco Classic, hosted by Santa Clara at the Degheri Tennis Center. The tournament will run Friday, October 6 through Sunday, October 8 with matches starting every day at 8:00 am.
San Francisco joins a field of competitive collegiate teams, including Stanford, Washington, Cal, Oregon, Boise State, Fresno State, Nevada, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, Sacramento State, BYU, UC San Diego, Sonoma State, UC Santa Cruz, and Fresno, as well as West Coast Conference competitors Santa Clara, St. Mary's and Gonzaga.
Last season, the Dons finished third in the WCC after they defeated Bay Area rival Santa Clara 4-1 at the WCC Championship. Last year's leaders, senior Matt Berry and sophomore Thong Tu, will return to the squad this year to compete for the Green and Gold. Junior Falko Huettenberger will also be a tough competitor for the Dons.
