Men's Tennis Travels Three to Chandler Cup

Moraga, CA - Three Saint Mary's men's tennis players will travel to Berkeley, CA to participate in the Chandler Cup hosted by California on Friday, Oct. 26 through Sunday, Oct. 28. Head coach Michael Wayman will travel three of his players, Joel Kusnierz, Andrea Zannoni, and Marek Dvorak.

The tournament will take place at the Hellman Tennis Complex and the Channing Tennis Courts in Berkeley, CA. The Chandler cup honors the life, sportsmanship and memory of former Cal men's tennis player E.G. "Bud" Chandler. Chandler won back to back NCAA Collegiate Tennis Championships in 1925 and 1926 and won the NCAA doubles title with teammate Tom Stow in 1926.

Hosted by the University of California men's tennis program, the Chandler Cup will feature some of the top players from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Loyola-Marymount, Nevada-Reno, Pacific, San Francisco, Sonoma State, Stanford, UC Davis, UC San Diego, UC Santa Cruz and Washington. The tournament format will include three full singles and doubles draws with a consolation draw of players losing in the first round of singles play.

Play begins on Friday morning with doubles matches at 8 a.m. at both locations (Channing and Hellman). Complete draws and schedule will be posted at www.tennisinformation.com on Oct. 25.
