Malibu, Calif. - Pepperdine's Andre Begemann opened play at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in Columbus, Ohio on Thursday with a first-round 6-4, 7-6 (4) win over Jared Drucker of Columbia to advance to the second round of singles action.
The junior will face eighth-seeded Erling Tveit of Mississippi in a match scheduled for no earlier than 12:30 p.m. Friday.
In doubles, Begemann paired up with sophomore Omar Altmann. The Wave duo was defeated by Julien Carsuzaa and Dennis Riegraf of Lynn University, 9-7, to move into the consolation draw. The tandem will face Diego Camacho and Ross Cunningham of Tulsa in a match scheduled for no earlier than 9:45 a.m. Friday.
