MALIBU, Calif. - The Waves are playing their only road match in the month of February Friday night when they take on Sourthern California in Los Angeles at 7:00 p.m. (PT). When it is all said and done, Pepperdine will have played six of seven contests at Firestone Fieldhouse.
Pepperdine enters the week with a No. 2 ranking in both the USA Today and Volleyball Mag. rankings. This week, the Waves picked up a first-place vote in the USA Today top 15 after getting out to a 5-1 (5-1 MPSF) start.
Sean Rooney is accounting for 5.50 kills per game this season to lead the Pepperdine offence, while John Parfitt has started to come on strong posting 3.00. The Wave's middle blocker duo of Andy Hein and Tom Hulse have caused problems for opposing teams throught the first six contests, combining for 92 kills and 69 total blocks.
USC is 3-8 (1-5 MPSF) on the season after dropping an early-week tilt to Cal Baptist, 3-1, on Tuesday. The Trojans have lost six of their last seven heading into tonight's contest.
