MALIBU, Calif. - The No. 3-ranked Pepperdine men's volleyball team will put its four-match win streak and perfect 4-0 road record on the line this week when it travels to Los Angeles to face the USC Trojans at the newly-built Galen Center Friday night. On Saturday, the Waves will return home to host the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT both nights.
Pepperdine is 7-1 on the season and sit atop the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation standings with a 6-1 record in league play.
Setter Jonathan Winder was named Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week on Monday and is 3-0 since making his return to the starting lineup after missing the first five matches of the season. A week after Tom Hulse was named the conference's Player of the Week, Paul Carroll was issued the accolade, the first of his career.
Pepperdine defeated the Trojans 3-1 in the team's first meeting of the season but has not faced UC Santa Cruz since the 2002 season.
