MALIBU, Calif. -
The second-ranked Pepperdine Waves will play host to top-ranked BYU in a two-match series that is scheduled to begin Thursday night at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu, Calif. This marks the second straight time the two teams have met with the nation's top two rankings.
Last year, Pepperdine traveled to Provo, Utah as the No. 1 team in the polls and picked up a split with BYU which entered the contests at No. 2. This year the roles are reversed.
Pepperdine (9-1) is riding a six-match win streak into this weekend's action and sits atop the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) standings with a 7-1 league record.
BYU is 9-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play but has lost two straight entering Thursday's tilt after dropping a 3-2 decision to UC Irvine on February 3 and being swept by Cal Baptist Tuesday night in Riverside.
Thursday's match is set for 7 p.m. PT, while Saturday's match is set for a 1 p.m. first serve.
