MALIBU, Calif. -
After two emotional victories over then-top ranked BYU last week, the Pepperdine Waves vaulted into the top spot of the latest polls. This week, Pepperdine will look to keep the momentum of an eight-match win streak as it hosts Stanford and Pacific on Thursday and Friday, respectively, at Firestone Fieldhouse.
This week marks the first time since February 3, 2006 that Pepperdine has held down the top spot in the CSTV/AVCA Coaches' Poll. The Waves have been ranked a total of 45 times, second only to UCLA's 112.
Despite the team's early-season success there is little room for error with UC Santa Barbara just one game back at 10-2 in league play and UC Irvine sitting in third at 9-3 as the season reaches the mid-way point.
Both of this week's matches are scheduled for 7 p.m. first serves.
