Feb. 22, 2005

MALIBU, Calif. - The No. 2-ranked Pepperdine men's volleyball team will be back in action for the first time in 10 days when it closes out its current four-match home stand Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. (PT) against No. 8 Cal State Northridge at Firestone Fieldhouse.

Pepperdine (9-1, 9-1 MPSF) has won its last seven matches heading into this week's match and are a perfect 5-0 in Malibu this year.

Northridge (7-8, 4-7 MPSF) earned a split in two matches last week dropping a 3-0 decision to Long Beach State before rebounding to sweep UC San Diego two days later. Brian Waite leads the Matadors averaging 3.26 kills per game, while Dan Rhodes and Nils Nielsen are chipping in 2.90 and 2.80, respectively.

Sean Rooney continues to have a sensational senior season recording 5.18 kills per game to lead the Waves, while Andy Hein is hitting an NCAA-leading .595 clip from the middle.

Wednesday's match will be the lone contest for Pepperdine this week and the last at home until March 10. The Waves open the month of March in Hawaii as they take on Warriors on the 2 and 4 in Honolulu.
