MALIBU, Calif. -
The top-ranked Pepperdine men's volleyball team will put its 11-match win streak on the line this week when it travels to Honolulu for a pair of matches against No. 14 Hawaii at the Stan Sherriff Center. Thursday's match is slated for a 9 p.m. PT first serve, while Saturday's finale is set for a 5 p.m. first serve.
Pepperdine has held the No. 1 ranking for the past three weeks and 12 of the past 45, including once in each year since 2001.
The Waves split two matches against the Warriors in 2006 at home and swept the season series in Honolulu in the team's last visit to the island in 2005.
Pepperdine's 14-1 record is tied for the program's best mark after 15 matches, equaling the marks of the 1999 and 2005 teams. The Waves were eliminated in the first round of the MPSF tournament buy USC in 1999 to end the season and won the program's fifth national title in 2005.
Next week, Pepperdine will host Rutgers-Newark in the final non-conference match of the season before traveling to UC San Diego for the first of two away league contests.
