MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine sophomore opposite Paul Carroll was selected as the Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week for matches the week of April 9 - 15 announced by the American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) Monday afternoon.
This marks the first time in his career that the Forester, Australia native has earned national POTW honor and second this season, joining Jonathan Winder who earned the accolade on February 5. It also marks the 16th time overall a Pepperdine athlete has earned the honor.
In leading Pepperdine (25-1) to victories over Cal State Northridge and UC Santa Barbara last weekend, Carroll recorded 5.71 kills per game while hitting at a .346 clip to go along with four aces, 1.71 digs and 1.43 blocks per game.
Pepperdine is idle until Thurs., April 26 when it plays in the first of two Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) semifinal matches at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu, Calif.
