MALIBU, Calif. -
The top-seeded Pepperdine Waves are set to host the fourth-seeded UC Santa Barbara Gauchos in the first of two Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) men's volleyball semifinal matches Thursday at 5:30 p.m. (PDT) at Firestone Fieldhouse.
Pepperdine (25-1) received a bye into this week's semifinal round by virtue of winning the MPSF's regular-season crown with a conference-record 21-1 mark.
UC Santa Barbara (20-11) earned their way to Malibu by knocking off fifth-seeded UCLA 3-1 last Saturday at home.
The Waves defeated the Gauchos in both regular-season matches, including 3-1 at home in the regular-season final. In the first meeting, Pepperdine swept UCSB in Santa Barbara.
The second semifinal of the day will pit the second-seeded BYU Cougars against the third-seeded UC Irvine Anteaters and is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. The two teams split the season-series during the regular season with BYU winning 3-0 in the first match and UCI claiming a 3-2 victory in the second match. Both matches were in Provo, Utah.
All-session ticket packages are for sale at the Pepperdine Ticket Office (1-866-WAVE TIX) for $25. Single-session tickets will go on sale tomorrow at the ticket office -- located on the southwest corner of Firestone Fieldhouse -- from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and are $15 for adults and $10 for students with valid IDs. Doors to tomorrow's matches open at 4 p.m.
