Pepperdine Receives At-Large Berth to NCAA Championships in Ohio

MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine men's volleyball team is headed to Columbus, Ohio for next week's NCAA National Collegiate Men's Volleyball Championship where it will face fourth-seeded Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne at 2 p.m. (PDT) on Thursday at St. John's Arena.

Pepperdine (26-2) received the lone at-large bid to the tournament after dropping a 3-2 decision to the second-seeded UC Irvine Anteaters in Saturday's Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championship match.

IPFW is the championship's fourth seed after sweeping Ohio State in the MIVA championship match, while Penn State is the third seed as the EIVA tournament champions.

Pepperdine is making its 14th appearance in the NCAA Championships where is it 16-8 overall with five national titles, the last coming in 2005. The Waves' first title came in Columbus in 1978.

Pepperdine is 2-0 all-time against IPFW and has never faced the Mastodons in the NCAA championship.

The match will air live on ESPN2 with Beth Mowins and Mike Dodd calling the action.
