The win propelled Kansas State (22-8) to its first-ever "Sweet 16" appearance. The Wildcats will travel to Madison, Wisconsin next week to take on Wisconsin, which defeated Northern Iowa in four games on Saturday.
Kansas State defeated Pepperdine (24-7) by scores of 19-17, 15-13, 10-15, 15-3 and prevented the Waves from making a third straight "Sweet 16" appearance.
Junior outside hitters Liz Wegner (17 kills and 17 digs) and Lisa Mimick (14 kills, 21 digs) also recorded double-doubles for Kansas State. Freshman middle blocker Lauren Goehring added 16 kills and a team-high six blocks for the Wildcats.
Kansas State rallied from an 11-14 deficit and held off six game points in Game 1 to record a 19-17 win.
For the match, Kansas State hit .246, while Pepperdine recorded a .193 hitting percentage.
Junior outside hitter Lisa Borom recorded a double-double, posting a team-high 21 kills and adding 15 digs, while junior outside hitter Melissa snow totaled 17 kills and a team-leading 23 digs.
Sophomore outside hitter Stacy Rouwenhorst also had a double-double as she registered 16 kills and 10 digs for the Waves.
