August 24-Northern Iowa rallied to a five-game victory over Pepperdine in the consolation match of the State Farm/NACWAA Classic Saturday evening at the Sports Pavilion in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Northern Iowa (1-1), ranked #14, rallied from a 12-9 deficit in the fifth game to defeat the #8 ranked Waves (0-2) by scores of 21-30, 30-21, 22-30, 30-23 and 15-13.p>

Pepperdine junior all-American Katie Wilikins recorded a career high 27 kills in 75 attempts of the Waves. The 75 attempts were the second highest in the tournaments history while the 27 kills were good for the third highest mark. Freshman Breegan Mulligan also had a strong showing posting a double-double as she totaled 18 kills and 12 digs while Brie Harris continued her strong play also posting a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs.

Junior middle blocker Molly O??Brien tallied 17 kills, six of them coming in the fifth and decisive game for Northern Iowa. With Pepperdine in control of the fifth game 12-9, the Panthers registered five straight kills, three coming from the hand of O'Brien, to take a 14-12 advantage.
