USF suffered from poor hitting and a stingy defensive effort turned in by Oregon State as they fell to the Beavers30-19, 30-24, 30-18 in non-conference volleyball action Wednesday at Memorial Gym.

San Francisco (2-2) hit .085 for the match, while Oregon State (3-1) hit .282 and collected 17 more digs than their opponents.

Senior opposite Alyssa Jones and junior middle blocker Teresa Russell each tallied 10 kills for USF with Jones adding 11 digs for her first double-double of the season. Sophomore setter April Scoggin collected a team-high 13 digs and dished out 31 assists for San Francisco.

Senior outside hitter Gina Schmidt powered down a game-high 12 kills to go along with a match-high 15 digs and senior outside hitter Lori Daedelow added 11 kills and 14 digs for the Beavers.

USF returns to action when they travel to the East Coast to compete in the Virginia Commonwealth Tournament, where they face Elon in opening round action on Friday, Sept. 7. Bucknell and host VCU round out the tournament field.
