September 24-The San Diego Toreros needed just one hour and eighteen minutes to defeat the visiting UC Riverside Highlanders Tuesday night. USD swept the Highlanders 30-23, 30-24, 30-18 to improve to 11-3 on the season. Senior Noel Frohman killed a match-high 19 and junior Lisa Gordon had 10 block assists, which was third highest all-time for a Torero in a single match.

Gordon would total a career-high 12 total blocks and teammate Devon Forster added 12 kills. Torero setter Lindsey Sherburne passed out 38 assists in front of 411 that were in attendance at the Jenny Craig Pavilion, the site of the USD Tournament later this week.

UC Riverside drops to 5-6 after the loss. Highlander junior Rosanna Parizek killed nine, which was a team-high. Junior defensive specialist Kristen Thompson totaled 12 digs.

The Toreros are set to host the 2002 USD Tournament scheduled for Friday and Saturday. The tournament brings Colorado State (7-5), Columbia (5-4) and Robert Morris (11-5) to the JCP. USD will face Robert Morris on Friday with matches against Columbia and Colorado State slated for Saturday.
