The West Coast Conference holds an outstanding 8-40 record in non league play, winning 17 out of the 7 tournaments that conference teams participated in this season.lt;pgt; lt;Pgt;13; It's already been an incredible season for WCC volleyball with seven of the leagues eight teams entering conference play with winning records well above .00. In fact, this years group is shooting for arguably the best season since the conference started sponsoring the sport in 198. Below are a few milestones already accomplished and a couple more to watch out for: lt;Pgt;13;lt;pgt; * San Francisco is currently riding a 1-game win streak that marks the best start to a season in league history. lt;Pgt;13;*Saint Mary's (13-4) and San Francisco (1-0) have already surpassed last years win totals. The Gaels were 9-18 a year ago, while the Dons went 6-. lt;Pgt;13;* Six WCC teams have amassed double-digit victories this season, a feat thats been accomplished seven times in the 19 years the league has sponsored womens volleyball. Of those seven instances, twice the WCC fielded seven teams with double-digit wins and in 1990 all eight teams posted at least 10 wins. lt;Pgt;13;* Santa Clara's Jon Wallace and San Diego's Jennifer Petrie continue to rise up the WCC all-time victories list. Coach Wallace has 99 total wins at the helm for the Broncos, while Coach Petrie has amassed 9 total wins for the Toreros. Both coaches are aiming to become the fifth and sixth WCC coaches to reach the 100 win plateau. lt;Pgt;13;lt;bgt;Games To Watchlt;/bgt;lt;pgt; lt;Pgt;13;lt;bgt;San Francisco at Pepperdine-Friday, October 3 at 7:00pmlt;/bgt;lt;brgt; Here lies the ultimate test for a surging Dons team as they open the 003 conference season on the road against two-time defending league champion Pepperdine. San Francisco is one of the hottest teams in the country, rising from six wins a year ago to start this season 1-0 under first- year Head Coach Jeff Nelson. If any coach knows about winning its Pepperdine Head Coach Nina Mathies, who enters her 19th conference season with her eyes on league title 10. The Waves hold a dominant 3-1 record against San Francisco in league play and have defeated the Dons each of the last 19 meetings.lt;pgt; lt;Pgt;13;lt;bgt;Saint Marys at Loyola Marymount-Friday, October 3 at 7:00pmlt;/bgt;lt;brgt; LMU looks a lot closer to the 000 Lions squad that went to the NCAA Tournament. LMU has run off three straight wins after a tough loss at Hawaii. They currently sit one win shy of last years win total. Theyll try to get that win against a much improved Gaels squad that won three tournament championships this season. The edge in this series goes to LMU (9-), but the two teams split a year ago.lt;pgt; lt;Pgt;13;lt;bgt;Upcoming Schedulelt;/bgt;lt;brgt; lt;Pgt;13;lt;bgt;Sept. 30lt;/bgt;lt;brgt; LMU at UC Riverside - 7pmlt;brgt; Portland at Oregon State - 7pmlt;brgt; Santa Clara at Sacramento State - 7pmlt;pgt; lt;Pgt;13;lt;bgt;Oct. 3lt;/bgt;lt;brgt; Santa Clara at Gonzaga - 7pmlt;brgt; Saint Marys at LMU - 7pmlt;brgt; San Francisco at Pepperdine - 7pmlt;brgt; San Diego at Portland - 7pmlt;pgt; lt;Pgt;13;lt;bgt;Oct. 4lt;/bgt;lt;brgt; San Diego at Gonzaga - 7pmlt;brgt; San Francisco at LMU - 7pmlt;brgt; Saint Marys at Pepperdine - 7pmlt;brgt; Santa Clara at Portland - 7pmlt;brgt; lt;Pgt;13;------------------------------------------------------------- lt;bgt;Team Noteslt;/bgt;lt;brgt; lt;Pgt;13;lt;bgt;Gonzaga Bulldogs Head Coach: Kip Yoshimuralt;/bgt;lt;brgt; Senior middle blocker Abby Cullen is closing in on a milestone as she is nearing the 1,000 kills mark for her career. Cullen now has 98 career kills moving into 10th place on the Bulldogs career list. When Cullen passes the 1,000 kill mark she will become only the 10th Bulldogs player to ever accomplish that feat. Cullen moved into 10th place on the career kills list passing Nancy Miller (1991-94) who had 99 kills. By year's end Gonzaga could have another player reach the 1,000 kill milestone as Christina Davis needs 00 kills to crack the barrier.
