The #4 ranked Stanford defeated #24 ranked Santa Clara, 3-1 in front of 936 fans at the Leavey Center

The #4 ranked Stanford volleyball team defeated #24 ranked Santa Clara, 3-1 in front of 936 fans at the Leavey Center. Santa Clara won the first game, 30-26, but lost the next three 30-20, 30-24, 30-21.

2000 WCC Freshman of the Year Becky Potter posted 18 kills and seven digs against the Cardinal. Broncos Jessie Mechem and Toni Muratore tallied 14 and 11 kills, respectively. Senior Jami Bari came up big for SCU with a team-high 14 digs.

Junior Logan Tom led Stanford in both kills (23) and digs (14). Stanford outblocked Santa Clara 21-6 and improved their overall record to 10-1.

Santa Clara falls to 8-5 (1-1 in WCC) and will host Gonzaga and Portland this weekend. The Broncos lead the all-time series against Gonzaga 22-6, and have not lost to the Zags in the last 12 meetings. SCU also has a successful record against the Pilots and lead the series 24-7.
