The San Diego volleyball team (11-3/3-0 WCC) defeated, 3-1, the Saint Mary's Gaels (2-10/0-3 WCC) in a West Coast Conference match on Saturday night at McKeon Pavilion. Noel Frohman led the way for the Toreros with 18 kills and 13 digs.

San Diego won the opening game of the match, 30-25, by out-hitting the Gaels with a .213 hitting percentage. Saint Mary's rallied to win game two 30-24 with a .188 hitting mark. Both teams posted impressing hitting numbers in game three, .425 for USD and .344 for SMC, but the Toreros notched the win, 30-21, to take a 2-1 advantage in the match. It was all USD in game four as the Toreros posted a 30-18 with win its third WCC match of the season.

In the contest San Diego out matched the Gaels in kills (68-48), blocks (13-5), digs (72-62) and the hitting percentage (.282 to .153).

Senior outside hitter Meagan Smith paced Saint Mary's with 13 kills and a match-high 17 digs. Carla Jo Vandenbark led the team with 15 kills and Brooke Lowry added 43 assists. Lindsay Hardy had 10 digs and two service aces.

San Diego had three players post double-digits in kills, with Frohman leading the way with a match-high 18. Debra Robertson added 15 kills and Lindsey Lampert added 13 kill to go along with her .545 hitting percentage. USD setter Ali Martin had 47 assists and 11 digs.
