The Saint Mary's women's volleyball team (3-11) was defeated by San Jose State (13-3), 3-1, in a non-conference volleyball match Tuesday at McKeon Pavilion. Brianna Blair posted a career-high 30 kills in the match to pace the Spartan victory.

Pacing the Gaels was junior outside hitter Rachel Avilla. Avilla had 16 kills and a .256 hitting percentage to go along with 15 digs. Meg Hauser had a solid night with nine kills and a team-high 16 digs. Carla Jo Vandenbark also reached double-digits in kills with 11. As a team, Saint Mary's posted a .233 hitting percentage and six blocks.

Aside from Blair's 30 kills and a .329 attack percentage, three other Spartans reached double figures in kills. Liz Hudson had 15 kills and 13 digs, Kimberly Noble totaled 11 kills and 12 digs, and Stephanie Pascucci added 11 kills to go along with her .391 hitting mark. Setter Savannah Smith recorded 60 assists and Jeanine Haldi had 25 digs, both were match highs.

Saint Mary's will return to action Friday, October 12, when it travels to Gonzaga for a WCC match.
