Oct. 12. -- Freshman middle blocker Toni Muratore posted 15 kills and a .542 hitting percentage to lead the Santa Clara University volleyball team to a three-game victory over Loyola Marymount tonight in West Coast Conference action at Gersten Pavilion. Game scores were 30-27, 30-27, 30-20. With the victory, SCU improves to 11-5 overall, 4-1 in league play, while the Lions fall to 8-6, 2-2.

The Lions record now stands at 8-6 overall and 2-2 in the West Coast Conference, while Santa Clara improves to 11-5 and 4-1 in conference play.

Freshman Dina DeBernardi led the Lions' offensive attack with 11 kills on the night. DeBernardi was the only Lions recorded double-digit kills; she hit .318 for the night. Sophomore Kealani Kimball and freshman Jody Carlson followed with nine kills each. Junior Laura Gustorf led the Lions defensively with 18 digs, sophomore Nicole Oehlman followed with 14.

Toni Muratore led Santa Clara's offense with 15 kills. Becky Potter and Jessie Mechem were close behind tallying 14 and 11 kills, respectively. The Broncos connected for six service aces on the night; Kelli Sousa and Jami Bari each had two.
