Men's Volleyball Heads to Can-Am Challenge of Champions

MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine men's volleyball team will open its fall season this weekend as it travels to Alberta, Canada as one of three American collegiate volleyball teams selected to compete in the 2004 Husky Energy Can-Am Men's Volleyball Challenge of Champions.

For America, BYU, Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge will join the Waves in the round-robin tournament, while the Canadian teams scheduled to compete include the 2004 CIS Champions University of Saskatchwan, 2004 runner-up University of Alberta as well as the third and fourth place finishers, Trinity Western University and University of Manitoba.

Play begins Thursday as Northridge takes on Alberta. Pepperdine will open play in the tournament Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. against Saskatchewan and then again at 6:30 against Trinity Western. The Waves will wrap up competition on Saturday with a pair of matches against Alberta and Manitoba. First-serve is slated for noon and 6:30, respectively.
