Oct. 20 -- The #14 ranked Pepperdine Waves beat the San Diego Toreros in five games Saturday night in a battle for first place in the WCC. Pepperdine who won, 25-30, 30-22, 30-23, 19-30, 15-12, improve to 12-2 overall and remain in first place in the WCC with a 7-0 record.

The Toreros (14-5, 5-2 WCC) gave the Waves all they could handle with junior OH Noel Frohman killing 23 and digging 14 both team-highs. However the stellar play by Wave OH Katie Wilkins who had 21 kills coupled with teammate S Paola Rodriguez?s 65 assists was enough for Pepperdine to pull out their seventh WCC win.

USD, down two games to one, came back to dominate game four with help from freshman OH Devon Forster, who totaled 18 kills Saturday night. Game five went back and forth, tied at nine, before Pepperdine ended the match with a block assist by OH Melissa Snow and MB Lyndsey Hache?.

San Diego is now 2-2 against ranked competition this season.
