Oct 28- The Saint Mary's women's volleyball team defeated San Jose State by a final score of 3-0 this evening. Game scores for the Gaels victory over the Spartans were 30-14, 30-26, and 34-32. With the victory Saint Mary's improved its overall season record to 16-9, while San Jose State fell to 7-14.
Against San Jose State the Gaels' defense proved to be too much for the Spartans. Saint Mary's recorded a total of 13 blocks to San Jose State's total of six. The Gaels focused on a team defensive approach with a total of 26 block assists.
Leading the way for the Gaels on defense was Stacey O'Connor. The 2002 All-WCC Honorable Mention honoree recorded a match-high seven block assists for the Gaels against San Jose State. The junior also posted one dig on the evening.
Offensively, Saint Mary's had a total of three players record double-digit in kills. Leading the way was Jill Parmele. The Acampo, CA native posted 14 kills, one ace, and one assist. Kaui Salzman also had a huge game for the Gaels by finishing with a double-double after posting 14 kills and 10 digs. Wrapping up the offensive supporters for the Gaels was Lindsey Bogason. The junior recorded 10 kills to go with her four assists, and one ace.
