Nov. 9 -- The Saint Mary's women?s volleyball team (4-18/1-10 WCC) defeated the Portland Pilots (6-16/2-10 WCC) in a West Coast Conference match in three straight games on Friday night in McKeon Pavilion. Outside hitter Rachel Avilla led all players with 10 kills to pace the Gaels.

Saint Mary's picked up its first conference win and did it in dominating fashion. The Gaels won the first game 30-14, before winning games two and three by scores of 30-22 and 30-20, respectively. Saint Mary's posted a .306 hitting percentage as a team while holding the Pilots to a .017 hitting mark for the game.

Avilla led the way for Saint Mary's and posted a .259 hitting percentage to go along with her 10 kills. Carla Jo Vandenbark had a .529 hitting percentage with nine kills. Gael setter Brooke Lowry tallied a double-double with a match-highs in assists (33) and digs (17).

Bridget Beschen had seven kills and nine digs, both were team highs for Portland.
