Nov. 10 -- USF took their first game against Pepperdine since 1996, but could pullof the upset, falling to the 10th-ranked Waves in four games, 27-30, 30-26, 30-17, 30-23 in West Coast Conference volleyball action Saturday at War Memorial Gym. USF (9-14, 4-9 WCC) made Pepperdine (19-3, 12-0 WCC) work for the win pushing the match close to the two hour mark. With the win, the Waves secured their second league championship in three years with the victory against the Dons.

After battling for the win in game one, USF continued to challenge in game two, before falling four points short. The Dons rebounded in game three but after taking a 14-13 lead on a service ace by sophomore outside hitter Brittanie Budinger, Pepperdine exploded for a 16-3 run to close out USF for a 2-1 lead.

Senior outside hitter Amanda Willnerd continued her strong play for USF, with a match-high 17 kills on .333 hitting to go along with 14 digs and a pair of blocks. Budinger also tallied 15 kills and 13 digs for the Dons. Sophomore middle blocker Liz MacAusland also tallied nine kills and collected 10 digs in the losing effort.

Pepperdine hit .264 for the match, including .410 in the decisive fourth game, while the Dons hit at a .193 clip for the contest. Stacy Rowenhorst led the way for Pepperdine with 16 kills on .448 hitting to go along with 13 digs while Katie Wilkins also tallied 16 kills and added 10 digs. Paola Rodriguez dished out 56 assists for the Waves and dug a match-high 18.
