UCLA did not waste any time in sweeping the Gaels as the match lasted one hour and 15 minutes. In game one Saint Mary's opened with a 4-1 rally before the Bruins scored 10 of the next 13 points, before cruising to the 30-23 win. With the score tied 10-10 in game two, UCLA ran-off eight straight points to open an 18-10 advantage before closing out the game with a 30-21 advantage. Game three saw the Gaels get as close as 13-12 before the Bruins 30-21 victory.
For the match, UCLA posted a team hitting percentage of .270 while holding Saint Mary's to a .118 mark. Saint Mary's posted eight blocks as a team as senior Carla Jo Vandenbark had five blocks in the match.
Leading the Gaels was Smith who closed out her home career with a double-double against the 11th-ranked team in the nation. Setter Brooke Lowry also had a double-double with 30 assists and 11 digs and Rachel Avilla added 11 digs for Saint Mary's.
UCLA had three players tally double digits in kills with Fendrick's 17 leading the way. Angela Eckmier chipped in with 15 kills and a .385 hitting percentage while Cira Wright added 14 kills to go along with a .500 hitting clip. Setter Erika Selsor had 54 assists and Charisse Zartman and Ashley Bowles had 12 digs each.
Saint Mary's will return to action on Friday, November 16 when they travel to Loyola Marymount. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The final game of the season will be Saturday, November 17 when the Gaels travel to Pepperdine for a 7:00 p.m. game against the Waves.
