Nov. 20 -- USF suffered a season-ending sweep to Bay Area rival Cal 30-18, 30-22, 30-16, Tuesday in non-conference volleyball action at War Memorial Gym. The Dons finish the 2001 campaign with a 9-16 record while the Golden Bears maintain a 9-17 record.

The Dons were led by sophomore middle blocker Liz MacAusland with seven kills and a team-high .385 hitting percentage. MacAusland is joined by senior outside hitter Amanda Willnerd with seven kills. Sophomore outside hitter Brittanie Budinger tallied a team-high eight kills in the match as well.

USF struggled offensively as the Golden Bears out hit the Dons .552-.152 in game one, .359-.179 in game two, and .542-.061 in game three. Cal recorded a .467 team hitting average for the match while USF hit at a .133 clip.

Sophomore outside hitter Gabrielle Abernathy and freshman middle blocker Camille Leffal shared a match-high 12 kills and seven blocks, three solo, for the Golden Bears. Abernathy finished the match hitting .435 while Leffal recorded a .556 hitting percentage. Senior setter Candace McNamee tallied 36 assists on the night with a match-high five block assists as Cal held a 10-4 blocking edge.
