Wenski's Career-High Lost in 64-60 Defeat

MALIBU, Calif. - Lauren Wenski scored 10 of her career-high 19 points in the first half of the Pepperdine Waves' 64-60 defeat to the San Francisco Dons in West Coast Conference (WCC) action Thursday night at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu, Calif.

With the victory, San Francisco (8-16, 2-7 WCC) sweeps the season series against Pepperdine (11-14, 4-6 WCC).

Teiosha George had 10 points on 4-of-10 shooting and pulled down nine rebounds. Daphanie Kennedy added 10 points in 33 minutes.

Shay Rollins scored a career- and game-high 20 points, including 13 in the second half. Rollins accounted for all three three-point baskets for San Francisco. Lisa Olden chipped in with 16 points and seven rebounds.

Pepperdine led by as many as eight early in the second half after Jasmane Clarendon's jumper at the 15:47 mark made the score 37-29.

Over the four minutes San Francisco used a 7-1 run capped by a Rollins trey to close within two 38-36. Wenski pushed the Pepperdine lead back to five on the first of three second-half treys moments later.

Rollins tied the game at 45-45 with 8:34 to play but Wenski regained the lead for Pepperdine by hitting on her second consecutive three-point try.

Rollins gave San Francisco its first lead 52-51 since the 7:22 mark of the opening half when she score five straight points as part of a 4-for-5 streak in the second stanza. The Dons built their largest lead of the night by hitting 10-of-10 free throws over the final 5:21.

Pepperdine opened the game with an 8-0 run with the Waves' forwards accounting for six of the points. San Francisco overcame a 0-for-4 shooting performance that covered the first 4:42 to hit on each of its next seven shots as part of a 14-0 run.

A Nakeya Isabell jumper ended the run.

Following a layup by Wenski and a jumper by Clarendon Pepperdine had retaken the lead 22-20. After Rollins tied the game at 22-all, the Waves closed out the first half on a 7-1 run to take a six-point 29-23 lead into the break.

Pepperdine will return to the hardwood Saturday afternoon when it hosts the San Diego Toreros at 2 p.m. PT.
