SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Freshman Morgan Henderson goes a perfect 6-for-6 from the field, 1-for-1 from the three-point line and 2-for-2 from the charity stripe to score a game-high 15 points in helping lead the University of San Diego women's basketball team to its 20th win of the season, with a 77-52 win over Santa Clara University Thursday evening in a West Coast Conference game at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

With the win, the Toreros improve to 20-5 overall, move to 8-2 in the WCC, have set another program record with its 20th win and have swept the Broncos for the first time since the 1989-90 season. With the loss, the Broncos fall to 13-13 overall and 5-6 in the WCC.

"I just thought that our team showed a lot of heart tonight," said head coach Cindy Fisher. "I can't say enough about our post play tonight. Whoever we put in there just did an outstanding job and to more than double our rebounds in the second half was just amazing."

With her game-high 15 points, just one shy of her career-high, Henderson has now scored at least 15 points in three consecutive games. Amber Sprague was the second of five Toreros in double figures with 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Both Kelly Winther and Ashley Voisinet had 11 points and Sabine Loewe was the final USD player in double figures with 10 points and seven rebounds. Amanda Rego recorded eight rebounds and four assists in the win.

As a team, the Toreros shot 48 percent from the field, compared to that of SCU who shot 34 percent, and the Toreros out rebounded the Broncos 52-14.

The early going of the game was even with the Toreros lead not getting larger then two, until the game was knotted at 8-8. Then the Toreros exploded on a 15-2 run sparked by Loewe three-point play and capped by a Sprague lay-up to move the score to 23-10.

The Toreros would build their lead up to as many as 16 on a pair of Voisinet free-throws with 3:50 remaining. But the Broncos would close out the half on a 7-2 run to pull within 11 going into the break.

In the second half, the Toreros kept the pedal to the medal and quickly built their lead up to 17 on a Winther lay-up and never looked back despite Santa Clara getting the deficit down to 10 on a couple of occasions. But in the end, USD's defense proved to be too strong as they cruised their way to a 25-point win.

For the Broncos, Ashley Graham led the team in scoring with her 13 points and both Jen Gottschalk and Chandice Cronk added 12 points a piece to round off the Broncos' offensive attack.

The Toreros will return to action on Saturday in their home finale with a 2 p.m. WCC game against Saint Mary's College. The Toreros will be honoring its senior class in a pre-game ceremony.
