MALIBU, Calif. - Junior Daphanie Kennedy and sophomore Jessica Ross scored 12 points apiece and freshman Miranda Ayim added nine as the Pepperdine women's basketball team posted a 73-52 exhibition victory over the Westmont College Warriors at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu, Calif.
Last season, Kennedy (Oakland, Calif.) scored a career-high 31 points in the Waves' 78-66 loss to the Oklahoma Sooners in the first round of the NCAA Championship Tournament. On Tuesday, Pepperdine's star point guard shot 4-of-9 from the field and handed out seven assists.
Ross (Gilroy, Calif.) was 4-of-7 from the floor, connecting four times from beyond the arc.
Ayim (Ontario, Cananda) scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds in 23 minutes for the Waves, who shot a blazing 45 percent (28-of-62).
Alisha Heglund scored 15 points and Amber Stevens added 11 for the Warriors, who shot just 31 percent (16-52).
Pepperdine hosts Cal State Los Angeles in the final exhibition game before opening the regular season on Fri., Nov. 10 in College Station against the Texas A&M Aggies.
