MALIBU, Calif. - Teena Wickett scored 10 of her game-high 18 points before halftime and Pepperdine never looked back in a comfortable 77-53 home win over Cal State Los Angeles. She shot 8-for-14 from the field and 2-for-2 from the line.
The Pepperdine women's basketball team never trailed in the game with saw three ties, the last coming at 8-8 early in the first half.
Fatimah Stokley had 13 points and Rachel Ottovich added 11 and 11 boards for the Golden Eagles.
Pepperdine broke open an 8-8 game with a 13-0 run over a four-minute span in the first half to take a 21-8 lead. The lead dipped below double-digits just twice before the Waves took a 10-point 40-30 lead into the half.
The Waves went on to score the first eight points of the second half and extended the lead to as many as 30 at two different times before claiming the 24-point, 77-53 victory.
Pepperdine will open the regular season Friday night in College Station, Texas against the Texas A&M Aggies.
