WCC women's basketball conference play kicks off Thursday, January 3rd

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- After a successful nonconference slate in which six West Coast Conference teams boasted a .500 record or better, WCC play kicks off on Thursday, January 3rd. BYU will make its 2013 WCC debut on Saturday afternoon.

WCC QUICK HITS

  • West Coast Conference play kicks off on Thursday, January 3rd with eight WCC teams in action. BYU will host San Francisco on Saturday in their first conference matchup of 2013.

  • The Cougars won their final six nonconference games. For the month of December, guard Haley Steed averaged 12.3 points per contest along with 7.8 assists and 4.5 rebounds.

  • With the final nonconference games in the books, Saint Mary's junior guard Jackie Nared leads the WCC with 19.1 points per game. BYU guard Haley Steed is dishing 7.6 assists per contest, tops in the conference.

  • The West Coast Conference will feature its women's basketball coaches and student-athletes with weekly Google+ hangouts throughout conference play in 2013. Every Tuesday beginning January 8th, join the hangouts for the live video interviews.
