MALIBU, Calif. -
Pepperdine will open the new year with a clean slate as it opens West Coast Conference (WCC) play Friday night against Portland at 7 p.m. PT. Sunday the Waves will end their four-game home stand against Gonzaga in a 2 p.m. tip at Firestone Fieldhouse.
Pepperdine is 7-8 on the season and has lost its last four games to close out non-conference play. After opening the season healthy, the Waves were 6-2 with a victory over then-No. 15 Rutgers, but have since used multiple starting lineups as the team has battled numerous injuries.
Pepperdine is 13-15 in WCC play under third-year head coach Julie Rousseau and is coming off the program's first conference tournament title under Rousseau a year ago.
Next weekend Pepperdine will travel to cross-town rival Loyola Marymount as part of a men and women's double-header against the Lions.
