Gonzaga and San Diego unbeaten after first two weeks of WCC play

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --Gonzaga and San Diego are both unbeaten after the first two weeks of the conference season. Gonzaga hosts San Francisco on Thursday, January 12 at 6:00 p.m. PT (SWX) and San Diego welcomes Loyola Marymount at 7:00 p.m.


  • Gonzaga has won nine games in a row and is ranked No. 23 in the AP Top 25, its first AP ranking this season. The Bulldogs lead the WCC and rank 10th in the NCAA with 78.7 points per game.

  • Three West Coast Conference teams rank in the NCAA Women's Basketball RPI top 64. Gonzaga is No. 27, BYU is No. 52 and Saint Mary's is No. 59 in the updated RPI.

  • Santa Clara senior guard Alyssa Shoji leads the nation in both three-point field goal percentage (53.2) and three-point field goals per game (3.9). As a team, the Broncos are second in the NCAA with a 40.2 three-point field goal percentage.

  • BYU has won 3 games in a row and the Cougars are ranked fifth in the nation with 18.9 assists per game. Senior guard Haley Steed has a 2.53 assist to turnover ratio, which is 10th in the nation.

  • Loyola Marymount redshirt-junior Alex Cowling leads the WCC and is 10th in the NCAA with 21.4 points per game.
