SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Junior point guard Amanda Rego has been tabbed as the West Coast Conference Player of the Week after helping guide USD to a 2-0 record this past week.
Rego led USD to two conference wins to begin WCC action 3-0 for the first time since the 1998-99 season and move to 14-3 overall. This marks the first time since the 1999-2000 season that USD has won 14 games. Rego averaged 10.5 points per game, and eight assists per game. She racked up four steals, 12 rebounds and hit 47 percent of her shots from the floor. Rego tallied her conference-leading sixth double-double of the season in Thursday's win over Pepperdine with 10 points, and game-high 10 assists.
Rego and the Toreros will look to extend their four-game winning streak on Thursday as they head to Santa Clara, Calif. to take on the Broncos of Santa Clara University at 7 p.m. USD will then conclude their two-game road swing with a 2 p.m. Saturday game against Saint Mary's College.
