San Diego travels to Santa Clara on Thursday night for a crucial conference match up that pits the WCC's top scoring offense (Santa Clara - 71.8 ppg) against the league's top defense (San Diego - allowing 56.8 ppg). The Toreros are off to the best start in program history with a 14-3 mark, and have gone 3-0 in conference play for the first time since 1998-99. The Broncos bring a 10-8 overall record into Thursday's game, and currently sit in third place in the league standings with a 2-1 mark in WCC games.

Santa Clara's high scoring offense is paced by junior guard Chandice Cronk, who leads the WCC in scoring with an average of 16.7 points per game. Cronk teams with backcourt mate Ashley Graham to form the most lethal three-point duo in the conference, as the two players have combined to sink 110 of Santa Clara's NCAA-leading 175 three-pointers this season.

A pair of local products are sparking the Toreros, as former high school teammates Amanda Rego and Amber Sprague have led USD into second place in the league standings. Rego is currently leading the nation with 7.9 assists per game, while Sprague is one of just two WCC players to rank among the top-five in the conference in scoring (14.1 ppg - 5th) and rebounding (7.4 rpg - 4th).
